1 CORINTHIANS:
LEARNING FROM THE BEST...OR WORST?

1 CORINTHIANS.  You may have heard it said that "an empire is destroyed from within before it is destroyed from without."  This statement has held true for the Babylonians, the Romans, the Germans, and many others.  In fact, it also proved to be true for the kingdom of God!  Maybe this is why the New Testament spends so much time on the subject of division between fellow believers.  The Corinthian group of disciples was no different.  Paul, the apostle, spent countless hours working with them and now writes a letter of concern dealing with the current "happenings" within the church at Corinth.  But that was in the early 100's A.D.  It's not relavent to us...right?  On the contrary, the Corinthian letter speaks loudly to today's Christians.  Paul gives today's Christians guidance and lessons through the circumstances from so many years ago at Corinth.  We are warned what certain attitudes will have a negative effect in our life and the life of the church, we're reminded of why we became a follower of Christ, and we are taught so many lessons from both the achievements and mistakes of the church in Corinth!  By no means was this church perfect...but then again, no church is perfect!   When you go deeper than the surface of this letter, what do you find needing reformation in your life and congregation?  What struggle can you identify with when you read about our brothers and sisters in Corinth?

Join us this Sunday as we learn to apply the life-changing truths of the Bible to today's world. As you connect with God's Word in a creative and innovative way, you will discover real answers for real life—answers that can bring your life a new level of meaning and purpose.
